Calling Elon intelligent is way too generous. He has exactly one skill, and it has nothing to do with engineering or intellect. He is good at hype. This is what lets him consistently deliver 3% of what he promises while still bringing in huge investments. This is what lets him poach top talent from real car companies, universities, and NASA for his chintzy little scams and half baked projects. Anything he actually touches or cares about is a failure (cybertruck, twitter, DOGE). The things that work in his companies are built entirely on the work of smart people that are attracted by his cult of personality.
As a person who honed his funny bone in HS as a means to make friends and get laid — had some success with the former, none with the latter — I couldn’t agree with this more.
For me, it’s a more general problem, though, not just for Musk but people like him, of having very limited EQ / socio-emotional skills, i.e. being an inveterate nerd.
Check out Zuckerberg’s interviews when he started getting lotsa press. It’s gotten bettter, but man those people are basically retards when it comes to impersonal communication. And that wouldn’t be a problem expect for the fact they’re now the richest, most powerful people on Earth :-/
Is making this point under the name “Diary of a Failed Comedian” an appeal to credentialism haha
Trust the experts!

A hype man with a bad personality? Now I’ve seen everything.

Zuckerberg’s MMA hype beast arc is some real uncanny valley shit
not liking Nathan Fielder because he's too nihilistic and then calling Trump one of the funniest people on the planet is very sus
I can't change reality. The guy gets laughs.
